Novel Coronavirus COVID-19: Update on Dental Practice

Pandemic declaration in Victoria ends, level 0
From 12/10/2022 onwards

From 11:59pm 12th October 2022 the pandemic declaration in Victoria ended. Face coverings are no longer required to be worn in public areas of private health care facilities. We will still be implementing our own protective measures as needed and request that if you test positive to COVID-19 you please inform us prior to your appointment. Despite the Department of health advising that people who test positive to COVID-19 do not need to isolate, our internal OHS policy is that if a team member tests positive to COVID-19, they will not be attending the work place so that we can best protect our patients.

Dental Practice returns to all services (enhanced patient/staff screening and infection controls)
(from Friday 22/10/2021 )

The last few months have been a challenging time in Victoria. As always, we have been keeping abreast of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic situation locally. We have all been affected in one way or another and our heart goes out to all those severely affected by this disease.

Thanks to the efforts of Victorians collectively, Dental Practice can now resume the full range of dental services for patients which means all procedures including preventive, elective and cosmetic treatments may be performed again. We are still implementing strict screening and infection control measures, are following our COVIDSafe plan and continue to maintain social distancing/density requirements.

You may have kept appraised of our changing services during these periods online on social media:

Dentistry is an essential health service. We have many patients that still need assistance with their dental conditions and maintaining oral health and our responsibility is to all our patients and the wider community. We have one of the most rigorous infection prevention and control standards in the world. We have implemented all additional procedures to protect our clients, our team, and our community.

Landale Dental has kept up to date on the evolving situation from the beginning. Our systems and protocols have kept us in good stead and allowed us to adapt quickly without disruption to services. Landale Dental is still in an excellent position to continue to provide dental services. We are an accredited dental practice.

Our clinic is open and will remain open and follow the restrictions, guidelines & recommendations of our governing bodies.  So, we are still operating, however:

Level 3 Dental Practice Restrictions (Urgent & Emergency Care)
(from 6/08/2020 to CURRENT ; 27/03/2020 to 27/04/2020)

Since our most recent novel coronavirus (COVID-19) update, we would like to advise that due to the dynamic nature of the situation the best way to keep appraised of our services and opening hours is:

Telephone: 0398990148 | Email: enquiry@landaledental.com.au | Facebook: www.facebook.com/landaledental/

The state government has classified dentistry as essential services. Maintaining the provision of emergency and urgent dental care will allow dentists to continue to provide high quality care for their patients and alleviate the burden that dental emergencies would place on hospital emergency departments. This should include management of conditions that are likely to require emergency care if left untreated.

Our clinic is open with limited hours and is following the guidelines & recommendations of the Department of Health and Human Services and the Victorian Government. Landale Dental is still in an excellent position to continue to provide urgent dental services. We have been keeping abreast of the evolving situation since the start. We are members of the Australian Dental Association and are an accredited practice. Our systems and protocols have kept us in good stead and allowed us to adapt quickly without disruption to services. However, there will be a triage process, limitation of services and hours, and strict screening process.

So, in addition to our previous update, we are performing additional measures and restricting services to emergency and urgent care. Priority will be given to existing patients. We will be contacting pre-existing patients booking prior to their planned visits if affected. Online booking and walk-in bookings will be restricted so it is best to contact us directly by phone or email.

For Our Patients:
1.      If you are felling unwell (especially symptoms of Diarrhoea, Runny nose, Cough, Shortness of Breath or Fever), please do not enter the clinic, instead please call, cancel and change your appointment time upon your recovery.

2.      If you have travelled or have been in contact with someone who has travelled overseas in the past 14 days, please do not enter the clinic rather call, cancel and postpone your appointment time.

3.      We would appreciate you washing your hands and using the hand sanitiser provided, upon both arriving and leaving the practice. Other hygiene etiquette advice will be provided on arrival.

4.      If you fall into any of these categories, we will be able to provide advice on how to access urgent dental care should you need it.

5.      If you have any respiratory condition or are immune-compromised or are over 60 years of age we can assist you in deferring any non-urgent dental care.

Wishing for the best to you and your loved ones.

Level 2 Dental Practice Restrictions
(Wed 15/07/2020 to 05/08/2020; 20/03/2020 to 26/03/2020)

Victorians, we are all in this together! Let's keep working hard to get through this second wave and flatten the curve again. Victoria's premier announced that Melbourne and Mitchell Shire will return to Public Stage 3 restrictions from 8th July until 16th August 2020. The Australian Dental Association and Chief Health Officer recommended a return to Level 2 restrictions for dental treatment from Wednesday 15th July.

Although we have excellent protocols for infection control, extra personal protective equipment, strict social distancing measures and City of Whitehorse have low COVID infection rates, we at Landale Dental, have voluntarily decided to adopt this recommendation to reduce risk and increase the safety of our team, patients and the wider community. This means we are still able to help you with a broad range of permanent and preventive treatments, and a lot of deferred work can still be completed with rubber dam. However, scale and clean and treatment which cannot be completed under rubber dam will need to be deferred for the time being. If you already have an appointment with us which may be impacted, our team will be contacting you to discuss your appointment. New patients are always welcome. If you have any questions, please call 9899 0148.

Landale Dental is committed to continue upholding all precautions and infection control standards to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and reduce the burden on our hospitals. Please watch our video above for more information.

As per the government mandated rules, you must also be wearing a face covering that covers your mouth and nose if you leave your home as of 23rd July 2020. If you have an appointment with us or need to visit us in person, please ensure you are wearing your face covering before entering the clinic. If you have any questions, please call ahead on 9899 0148. Stay safe!

Level 1 Dental Practice Restrictions (enhanced patient/staff screening and infection controls)
(from 08/05/2020 to 15/07/2020; 16/03/2020 to 23/03/2020)

The last few months have been a challenging time globally. As always, we have been keeping abreast of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic situation locally. We have all been affected in one way or another and our heart goes out to all those severely affected by this disease. From a global perspective, however, Australia has done particularly well at managing this locally and, as a community, we all should be proud.

Thanks to the efforts of Australians collectively, Dental Practice is now operating at Level 1 restrictions. Landale Dental has been with you through all three (1-3) recent levels that have preceded.  Level 1 means that all procedures including preventive and elective treatments may be performed again, however we are still implementing strict screening and infection control measures.

The announcement was made nationally on Friday 8th of May and confirmed in Victoria the next day.  The Australian Dental Association (ADA) has provided exceptional responsible leadership and advice to the Dental Board of Australia (AHPRA DBA) and Australian Health Protection Principal Committee (AHPPC). We are proud members of the Australian Dental Association.

In view of the recent coronavirus (COVID-19) issues, we would like to update you on our clinic status & additional procedures implemented in relation to the virus, in order to protect you, our team and the community's health.

The "State of Emergency" announced by the State Government of Victoria on 16/03/2020 does not impact dental clinics or routine dental practice. These measures are designed to enforce the recent restrictions on meetings of more than 500 people and self-isolation requirements for anyone returning from overseas.

We will continue to monitoring the situation and will update you on any changes which will also be published on our social media (https://www.facebook.com/landaledental/). A very useful reference website is https://www.health.gov.au/news/health-alerts/novel-coronavirus-2019-ncov-health-alert.
